Settle in for a one-night-only Gin Masterclass at the Maylands Hotel, where classic spirits meet a smooth, jazz-inspired atmosphere.
Hosted by Rachel Pratt — former distiller for Kangaroo Island Spirits — this guided tasting explores the history, evolution and character of premium Australian and international gin, from its early roots through to modern expressions.
THE GIN & JAZZ CONNECTION
Held on International Jazz Day, the evening leans into the natural pairing of gin and jazz.
Both rose to prominence in the early 20th century, particularly during the Prohibition era, shaping a culture of late nights, hidden bars, and creative expression.
From speakeasies to modern bars, gin became the spirit of choice while jazz set the soundtrack — together creating something timeless, social, and just a little indulgent.
With a curated tasting lineup, stories behind each pour, and a smooth jazz backdrop setting the tone, this is a relaxed and social night designed for sipping, learning, and settling in for the evening.
